Last night L & I talked late: I decided to write a book about her.1
In the morning went for a walk with Len & Jane in grounds of Chiswick House2. Len gave us his Book ×××× [indecipherable] Way to read.[RG]
Some work on 2 specimen chapters of Belisarius for Random House.
Laura & I checking Alan's Auden-plagiarisms article.
Dropped 2 shillings in Norman's money box for Vera Hankisson & Michael Ross. (M.R. came canvassing & stopped to hint for money for an art show).
Beryl & Alan to tea: made out a list of 16 good minds & several doubtfuls.
Supper at Len & Jane's: Betty Noxon too. Len showed me 'Dibpou'3 a dice-game & we played thread-puff.
Fighting a headache due to wearing London clothes.
