[Christmas] scarves for Marguerite and Betty1. Also bought copper coal-shovel for Honor, two more pewter ashtrays, and two Staffordshire cats, Francis and Frances, for 10/-
each.

In afternoon fixed up Lawrence book arrangements at a meeting of Trustees2 – present Eliot, Durnay3, Arnie, Carlow, Forster4, L.H. me. None of the Trustees has read the book! Agreed on 1000 copies limited publication,
& trade edition after official Letters published.
Gloomy feeling that Edward will abdicate following hopeful morning feeling that he will give up Mrs S.
Am getting much too fat.
Agreed to sell Lawrence letters for £300.
