Finished Belfrage rewriting: wrote letter to Bockenshouw (Holland) to protest against
the ascription to me of Golden Falcon1
Wrote more of Refugee story.
Laura, Karl & I went to 'Rembrandt'3 at Leicester Square Theatre. The sets were wretched compared with Kermesse Heroique4, the subsidiary actors rotten, Laughton acted Laughton, but Elsa Lanchester was very good.
A news-interview with one 'Rhodes or Rose' who had been in Spain and deserted the
militia, escaping as a British refugee when he saw that Madrid was bound to fall.
