Aug 25 Wednesday

Oppressive day: shooting at target with newly-feathered arrows.
Did 7 pp [pages] of Belisarius Ch [Chapter] VI & checked Laura's preface to her poems: went over checks with her working late.
*[RG] Laura's Collected Poems now ready for publication.
In afternoon we all crowded into the car for Guildford where we had tea & bathed at St.Catherine's1 on the Wey. Weedy but not cold. A sand ×××× [indecipherable] slide on the bank. Sam & I fetched a skiff, he rowing; & David & I took it back, I rowing.
Alix's father2 apparently dying.
*[RG] Fall of Santander.
Harry had a comic-angry letter from Italy about the D.T. letter3
